  Upon arrival at the hotel the outside is nice, could do with some updating but it's not awful. The carpark is big and has plenty of space to park considering the amount of rooms the place has.
  
  We were greeted at reception by a rude receptionist who had a mouth full of food and continued eating throughout check in. She made us feel very unwelcome and that started us off with a bad image of the place right from the start.
  
  Décor in the lobby, bar area and the corridors is nice and looks as though it's been updated recently however the same cannot be said for the rooms. We had two separate rooms both rooms looked identical, tired carpets, filthy curtains, the light shade from one of our lights completely fell off the second my partner knocked it. Bathroom sink was dirty and the mirror looked like it needed a good clean. The room smelt a bit like damp and paint, not very nice. The only good thing about the rooms are that the beds are very very comfortable, enough pillows and a spare quilt/blanket in the wardrobe.
  
  We went into the bar/restaurant for some food and drink and it's okay, the area is warm and cosy with an open fire, no really loud music and a TV that you can actually hear if you just wanted to relax.
  
  We sat down on the raised platform and there was a massive rip in the sofa, and rips in the wallpaper, however you are distracted from that by the nice atmosphere. We ordered our food at the bar, the waiter seemed like he had no idea about any of the products but we managed and got what information we needed. I will say we expected typical pub grub food but what came out was amazing. Presented well and the flavours were incredible, all four of us really enjoyed what we ate and would definitely recommend the food, especially the lamb.
  
  When going back to the rooms we could hear a strange noise, like someone banging against the wall, thinking it was a neighbouring room or someone doing work we ignored it. After about an hour of it carrying on (this was now 8.30pm) we went to reception to ask what it was and were told it was the squash club but it would be ending at 9pm, this is far too late to be having someone banging around and it was loud too not just a little bit of noise, usually we wouldn't be in bed that early but needing to catch an early flight the next day it did really affect our stay.
  
  On check out there was no one at reception, no bells to ring or doors to knock on, no one was in the bar area either so we just left our keys on reception, a long with any hope of coming here again.
  
  The saving grace for this place is the food we would recommend popping in for some food but not to stay, we definitely won't be coming back again.
